A letter from previous Post Commander...
The Ashland VFW is located at 311 Pleasant St by the Sudbury River and the commuter rail station. If you were raised in Ashland in the 60's, 70's, 80's,90's, or 2000's you probably attended a banquet or a function or maybe many functions. If you played little league Baseball, youth soccer or high school sports you quite possibly came to the hall many times. If you were in or are in Boy Scouts it may very well have been your troop home.
The Ashland VFW hosted the Lions clubs and the K of C, and the Ashland Seniors have used the the hall for many years for their annual Christmas party and spring fling auction. For these and many other charitable activities the Post donated the use of the facilities and members gave their time and energy to cook, serve and help events run smoothly. I venture to say that over the past fifty to seventy years the number of functions is well into the hundreds.
As our membership continues to shrink due to attrition we have found it increasingly difficult to maintain our post home. I guess we all hope that someday there will be no need for a Veterans Of Foreign Wars but as of right now it is great place for veterans (and residents) in the area to socialize and discuss the many issues confronting us all.
Please take a moment and donate, every little bit helps. I thank you in advance for your support and generosity in helping our local Post.
